The First American Tower Data Center Opens in Raleigh
On Wednesday, May 21, the new American Tower Edge Data Center in Raleigh opened. It is the first edge data center of its kind built by American Tower.
RED Director Kyle Touchstone attended the ribbon-cutting and shared a few words about the new facility.
“In greater Raleigh, innovation takes many forms, and innovation related to connectivity is even more important in today’s world. American Tower’s strategic decision to open this facility in greater Raleigh is a direct result of the massive growth (and innovation) we’ve seen over the last 10-15 years.”
Founded in 1995, American Tower Corporation, one of the largest global Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), is a leading independent owner, operator, and developer of wireless and broadcast communications real estate. American Tower is a Fortune 500 company making a positive impact on people and communities around the globe. American Tower has approximately 300 employees in the area and has had an office in Cary, NC, since 2007. Raleigh was selected for the new facility because it is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States and boasts a robust tech scene.
The data center is located at 6011 Chapel Hill Road, Raleigh, NC 27607.
