Raleigh Selected as Newest Hub for BuildOps, Tech Platform for Building Contractors
Alok Chanani, Co-Founder and CEO for BuildOps
RALEIGH, NC – June 24, 2025 – Raleigh Economic Development announced today that BuildOps, provider of cutting-edge software for commercial trade contractors, has selected Raleigh as its third North American hub of operations, joining Los Angeles and Toronto. The total economic impact for Raleigh, including construction, upfit costs and operations, is estimated to be over $87.6 million.
Raleigh was chosen over Austin, Texas, for the high-tech office project, which comprises an investment of nearly 300 new jobs over the next four years. Positions to be filled include roles in product and account management, customer service, sales, engineering, finance, operations and human resources, with annual salaries ranging from $75,000 to $220,000. The average yearly salary of $110,997 is 45 percent higher than the Wake County average of $76,643.
Built specifically for the construction and field service industries, BuildOps streamlines and optimizes operations for commercial trade contractors. The all-in-one, cloud-based service manages every aspect of a contractor's business from scheduling and dispatching to invoicing, billing, customer relationship management, inventory and financial reporting.
“It’s an exciting time to be in Raleigh, and we’re pleased that BuildOps selected our city for their new office hub,” said Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell. “With numerous infrastructure investments underway, including exciting downtown projects such as the Convention Center expansion, the new Omni Hotel, and the opening of the Gibson Play Plaza, among others, BuildOps joins Raleigh during a period of impressive growth. They’ll have a chance to be part of Raleigh’s next chapter.”
BuildOps has had success operating with remote workers, including remote staff in Austin, but found the need for physical office space was necessary for better collaboration and team support. The company selected Raleigh for its physical hub location due to the number of similar tech companies in the Greater Raleigh area and the region’s renowned tech talent pipeline.
“We were attracted to Raleigh for the same reasons that other innovators in the data technology sector have chosen the area for headquarters and hub operations,” said Alok Chanani, Co-Founder and CEO for BuildOps. “The technology ecosystem is world class and the quality of life is exceptional. The local business conditions are extremely favorable, and we are grateful to the City of Raleigh for working with us to make this decision easy.”
The office project was supported by the State of North Carolina with the approval of a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) and is a priority project for the City of Raleigh. Raleigh Economic Development is proposing the State Matching Grant provision of the City’s Business Investment Grant to support the project. Such grants are based on new jobs created, with grant recipients required to pay an average wage for all employees at the investment site equal to or greater than the average annual wage for Wake County.
The announcement was made possible through the collaboration of a key group of partners, including Raleigh Economic Development and Wake County Economic Development, programs of the Greater Raleigh Chamber, Capital Area Workforce Development Board, the City of Raleigh, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Commerce, N.C. Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, North Carolina Community College System, the North Carolina General Assembly, NC State University, and Wake Technical Community College.
