Gene Therapy Company Investing $35 Million in Raleigh Office
ChromaGenix— a company at the forefront of gene therapy — is investing $35 million to open a 6,500-square-foot office on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The new R&D center and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) facility, located in the Keystone Science Center Building, will be the company’s base for producing its cutting-edge technologies.
Over the next two years, ChromaGenix plans to hire 40 scientists. The company will largely recruit from NC State, including the university’s NC–VVIRAL lab and Golden LEAF BTEC, both located nearby on Centennial. The Centennial location marks the latest milestone in a long-standing partnership.
Kyle Touchstone, director of Raleigh Economic Development, shared his comments regarding the announcement:
“ChromaGenix’s growth on Centennial Campus reflects the power of industry and higher education working together to accelerate the development of next-generation therapies. Many companies in Raleigh benefit from close partnerships with our education partners. That’s a major advantage for us and a strong selling point.”
